The stabilization and removal of the celebrated murals at Ste. Trinité Cathedral in Port-au- Prince damaged during January 12 earthquake, 2010 in Haiti.

The Haitian Cutlural Recovery Center (HCRC), with permission for the Episcopal and funded by the Smithsonian Institute contracted wall paintings conservator Viviana Dominguez from ARTCONSERVATIONLA and Rosa Lowinger form Miami and Los Angeles based architectrural conservation firm Rosa Lowinger and Associates.

Viviana Dominguez:

A specialist in large-scale wall and easel paintings conservation.

She has worked in Argentina, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Hawaii, Miami and all over California conserving paintings, performing surveys and training people. As a educator she has designed the first university-level program in Art Conservation at the Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte in Buenos Aires. Her work has been presented in several congresses in Brazil, Argentina and the United States. She was awarded grants and scholarships form several institutions.

Conservation of Nineteenth Century Wall Paintings- Church in Colmenar de Oreja in the province of Madrid Spain

Santa Maria la Mayor is the main church of a small sixteenth century town in the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. Ulpiano Checa, a well-known nineteenth century artist, painted three 27' x 23' murals in the church depicting San Cristobal and two scenes of the Virgin Mary's life. During the Spanish Civil War, when the stone church was take over by Francisco Franco 's army and turned it into a weapons and munitions storage, the murals were vandalized and the Sand Crinsboal mural was half burned during an attack. In 2007, as part of the churche's restoration, Vivana Dominguez co-directed a team to conserve the three murals under a grant for the Municipality of Madrid.
